24 Bangladeshi Youths Held in Tripura Have Suspected Kashmiri Links
All of the arrested were carrying fake Aadhaar cards; an NIA team from Guwahati would interrogate them tomorrow.
AGARTALA (Tripura): Twenty four Bangladeshi youths were arrested with suspected terror links from the Agartala railway station on May 10.
Acting on a tip-off, Mobile Task Force (MTF) personnel raided the railway station and arrested the 24 Bangladeshis, who reached here from Delhi in the Tripura Sundari Express.
The MTF, a section of the Tripura State Police, deals with illegal immigration and related cases.
The interrogation of 24 Bangladeshi youths, who were arrested at Agartala railway station here on Thursday, has revealed a Kashmiri connection.
“A Kashmiri connection has been established so far. However, no terror link was found,” a senior officer of Tripura police told media.
All the 24 boys are said to have illegally crossed the Indo-Bangla international border near Petrapole-Benapole in Bengal.
They claimed to be students of a couple of madrasas in Deoband area of Uttar Pradesh, the police officer said.
Three of them had long-expired Bangladeshi passports while the rest did not have any passports when they were arrested.
A two-member NIA team from Guwahati led by Vivekananda Das is interrogating the boys since May 11.
A local court sent the intruders to seven-day police custody on the day. The boys are lodged in three different police stations in Agartala.
However, NIA sleuths have reportedly tracked telephone calls made to them from Jammu and Kashmir.
“They were dressed in long robes and sported beards like the usual madrasa students. They also produced identity cards issued by some madrasas. They owned sophisticated and expensive mobile phones. It was found that calls were made to them from Kashmir,” the official said.
Once the interrogation is over, these youths would be handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP).
The 850+ KM Tripura-Bangladesh border is largely fenced but there are some open stretches in the eastern frontier of the mountainous state.
Indore: Man Sentenced to Death for Rape and Murder of Four-Month-Old Girl
This is the first case in Indore where the verdict has been passed in just 21 days.
INDORE (Madhya Pradesh): A man, who was accused of raping and murdering a four-month-old girl in Rajwada in Madhya Pradesh, was awarded death sentence by Indore district court on Saturday.
The special public prosecutor urged the sessions court judge Varsha Sharma to treat the case as the “rarest of the rare” and award capital punishment to the accused.
Sharma said, “Such a small child who didn’t know anything other than crying was treated inhumanely.”
The district court announced life term for rape under the POCSO Act and death sentence for murder.
In the horrific incident that took place on the intervening night of April 18 and 19, the infant was raped and her body was recovered soaked in blood from the basement of a building.
The accused, identified as Naveen Gadge, who is a cousin of the victim’s mother was arrested on April 20 for raping the baby.
The police identified the accused as the uncle of the infant from the CCTV footage. He was the cousin of the victim’s mother.
Earlier in April, after the arrest, Gadge assaulted by people when he was being taken to a magisterial court here, officials said. Superintendent of Police BPS Parihar said the accused did not sustain any injury in the attack.
“We had a hard time protecting the accused. When he was being taken to the court, he was attacked and slapped (by people present there). The same thing was repeated when he came out of the court,” Inspector Avinash Singh Senger of Sarafa police station said.
Such was the anger against the sub-human that State Bar Council of Madhya Pradesh (SBCMP) member, Sunil Gupta, has appealed to Indore advocates not to plead for Gadge, Indore District Bar Association President PC Malviya said.
Analysing the public outcry and the brutality of the case, DIG Harinarayanachari Mishra had formed a SIT to investigate the matter.
Sonu Bai, the victim’s mother had demanded that the convict Naveen Gadge be executed at the earliest.
Taking cognizance of such crimes, President Ram Nath Kovind, on April 22, promulgated the Criminal Law (Amendment) Ordinance, 2018, for effective deterrence against the commission of rape.
The ordinance seeks the death penalty for the rapists of girls below 12 years of age and stringent punishment for perpetrators of rape particularly of girls below 16 years, thereby strengthening the POCSO Act.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan welcomed the court’s decision and said that this is a warning for the criminals that they will not be spared.
